According to a Monday news release from Houston city officials, Queen Smith Jackson, 67, is charged with manslaughter.

Jackson is accused of shooting a 22-year-old family member, the release stated. Police have not released the man’s name, but family members told KTRK-TV that the victim was Erick Hubert, whose nickname was “Noonie.”

Homicide detectives with the Houston Police Department said an argument occurred Saturday at about 11 a.m. CDT during a funeral service at McDuffie’s Mortuary, KHOU-TV reported. The argument spilled into the parking lot, where Jackson allegedly shot the victim, according to the television station.

KTRK reported that the funeral was for the victim’s grandfather. Jackson is reportedly the victim’s great-aunt and the brother of the man whose funeral family members were attending, the television station reported.

The city’s news release stated that Jackson admitted to firing the weapon but had intended to shoot into the air. The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A judge set Jackson’s bond at $50,000, according to KHOU. Her next hearing is scheduled for June 5, according to KTRK.
