FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. – Four people are accused of fatally shooting a man allegedly held captive in a dog kennel in October, authorities said Tuesday.
Brittany Nichole Caraway, of Johnsonville, was the fourth person arrested and charged with murder and kidnapping in connection with the death of Trey Lee Montrose, 23, of Florence, WBTW-TV reported. Montrose’s body was found on Oct. 8 near Timmonsville, according to the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.
Charles William Book, 27, was arrested in October and charged on Dec. 28 with murder, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, WPDE-TV reported. Paislee Ann Davis was charged with murder and kidnapping on Jan. 5, and Krystyn Domynyck Kelly-Hines was arrested and charged with the same crimes on Jan. 9, according to WBTW.
According to Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken, an autopsy found that Montrose died of “multiple gunshot wounds, as well as thermal injuries,” WMBF-TV reported.
Davis was released on Jan. 11 after posting a $25,000 personal recognizance bond, according to online jail records. Caraway is still awaiting a bond hearing in circuit court, while Book and Kelly-Hines were denied bond, WBTW reported.
Book, Davis and Montrose were also among six people arrested by Darlington County authorities in September on multiple drug charges, according to the television station.
An investigation is ongoing, police said.
