In a news release, Irvine Police Department said that officers Saturday morning along with the Orange County Fire Authority were called out to a house on Windwood in reference to a man who was injured. The person who called the police had gone over to the house to check on his friend after he did not show up for work.

The friend encountered the man’s son, Tyler Shipper, 24, according to IPD. Tyler reportedly appeared to be “disheveled” and would not let him inside. The friend called 911 after encountering Shipper.

When officers arrived at the house, they found Shipper’s father dead, according to KTLA.

Officials said that it appeared that the two men were the only residents living in the house, according to KTLA.

Shipper did not appear to be injured, according to KTLA.

IPD said a possible motive remains under investigation. A knife that investigators believe was used, has been recovered at the scene.

Shipper was arrested for homicide, according to IPD.

The investigation is ongoing.
