HAMPTON, Va. – A Virginia Target has temporarily stopped selling food after a widely viewed video online showed rats crawling atop store shelves.
Target officials said Sunday they stopped food sales at the location while a pest control company manages the rodents, WAVY reported.
“We apologize for any inconvenience and invite our guests to visit our nearby store on Jefferson Avenue in Newport News for food needs,” Brian Harper-Tibaldo, a spokesperson for Target, told WAVY. “We appreciate the efforts of our team and partners to resolve this situation as soon as possible.”
The video, posted March 17 on social media by a shopper, shows two rats scurrying above store shelves in the pet food aisle.
