SAN ANTONIO – It almost sounds like the beginning of a bad joke — so, this man walks into a taco shop with a machete in his head …
However, it was no laughing matter Wednesday in San Antonio when a man ran into a nearby taco business after being struck “three to four times” in the back of the head with the weapon, authorities said.
“Don’t know why, but we do see a lot of machetes,” an official with the San Antonio Police Department told KENS-TV.
Police said an argument between the victim and the suspect led to the attack at about 1 p.m. CDT, according to the television station.
Police said the victim ran into the Las Delicias Tacos restaurant, where witnesses told police he was “bleeding profusely,” KENS reported.
According to WOAI-TV, the alleged assailant was chased to a nearby creek. Authorities said they have detained one person but did not confirm whether it was the person responsible for the attack, the television station reported.
The weapon has not been located, authorities said.
The victim’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, police told KENS.
