SAN ANTONIO – The victim of a bizarre kidnapping and carjacking incident on Sunday in San Antonio saved himself by jumping out of a moving vehicle, despite not having the use of his hands.
The unidentified victim told police that he and a friend stopped at an AutoZone Auto Parts store, where he was kidnapped at gunpoint by one man, while an unidentified woman jumped in his car and drove away with his friend still in that vehicle, WOAI reported.
An arrest report identifies the gun-wielding kidnapping suspect as 38-year-old Christopher Barbosa, and the victim stated that a second suspect zip tied his hands after he complied with Barbosa’s demands.
According to WOAI, the victim struggled with the suspects before hurling himself from the moving vehicle while his hands remained zip tied. Three witnesses confirmed the victim’s account to investigators and stated that they helped remove the restraints before calling police.
Barbosa was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated kidnapping, the arrest report stated.
The woman who drove off in the victim’s car was located by police on Tuesday morning, but no further details were provided, WOAI reported.
