A 1964 Aston Martin that was owned by late actor Sean Connery will be up for auction soon, and is expected to fetch between $1.4 and $1.8 million.
The car is the same model that was used in the 1964 James Bond film “Goldfinger.”
The car was purchased by Connery in 2018 and was originally finished in California Sage Blue with a black leather interior. Connery repainted the car Snow Shadow Gray, the color of the movie car and changed the interior color to red. The car is a five-speed manual with the chassis number of DB5/1681/R.
Connery kept the car at his home in Switzerland, according to his son, Jason Connery. As Connery was getting older and the COVID-19 shutdown hit in 2020, there were fewer chances to use the car, Jason Connery said.
The DB5 was released in 1963 and cost 4,248 pounds for the base model that did not include air conditioning. Adjusted for inflation, the car would cost 94,785 pounds or around $128,625.
The auction is set for Aug. 17-18 with Broad Arrow Auctions.
