WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Mail carriers have to remain sharp when working their routes. One mail carrier in Kentucky not only had to handle mail, but also avoid a dog handling an ax.
Tim Smith, who is a mail carrier in Williamsburg, said he has encountered some strange things while delivering the mail in the rural areas of southeastern Kentucky. However, the sight of a dog trotting toward him with an ax in his mouth was a new — and slightly scary — experience, WKYT reported.
“I can handle a dog, but not a dog with an axe,” Smith wrote on Facebook.
Smith wrote on Facebook, perhaps only partially in jest: “There’s a lot of reasons why your mailman might not deliver your packages, and this is one of them.”
Smith said the dog was actually very friendly and he often sees him carrying around sticks.
Nevertheless, Smith will remain on edge when delivering the mail.
