The final episode of the “The Wendy Williams Show” will air on Friday.
Wendy Williams, 57, will not be present for the last show. According to Variety, a video montage will celebrate her 13 seasons on the syndicated talk show when it airs on June 17.
Ongoing health issues have prevented Williams from hosting the last season of the show. This season’s episodes have featured guest hosts including Sherri Shepherd, who is expected to take Williams’ time slot in the fall.
In 2021, showrunners cited Williams’ health issues “as a direct result of Graves’ Disease and her thyroid condition,” which eventually prevented her from hosting Season 13.
According to People magazine, the show’s Season 13 premiere was originally slated for Sept. 20 but was postponed until Oct. 4 after Williams tested positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19, compounding her existing health struggles.
The first announcement of the “The Wendy Williams Show” ending was first announced in February. The show will be replaced by “Sherri” hosted by Sherri Shepherd in the fall, according to The Associated Press.
