VERO BEACH, Fla. – This is not something a lifeguard normally finds on the beach.
Daniel Otto discovered a life vest packed with 41 pounds of marijuana that washed onshore on a South Florida beach, TCPalm.com reported.
Otto, 26, who is a lifeguard at Golden Sands Beach Park in Vero Beach, noticed the life vest had washed onshore on Oct. 23, the website reported.
When he picked up the vest, Otto told police the life vest felt “unusually heavy.” That is when he discovered six packages containing 41 pounds of marijuana inside the vest’s foam compartments, according to a report from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
Otto told authorities he almost put the vest in the trash but took it back to his station and sliced open one side. That is when he found the packages containing marijuana, TCPalm. com reported.
Otto could not be reached for comment this week, according to the website.
