ELKTON, Md. – Two adults and three children were found shot to death at a house in Maryland on Friday, according to officials.

According to a news release from the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office, a man called 911 to report that three children and a woman were shot and killed. Deputies responded to a house in Elk Mills, Maryland, around 9:30 a.m. on Friday.

The Associated Press said when deputies got to the house, they found a man, a woman and three children dead. The man had a semi-automatic handgun located near him.

CCSO said that all five people had gunshot wounds. CCSO also said that the bodies were found in various locations inside the house and the detached garage.

Maryland State Police’s crime scene technicians were called in to assist CCSO since the scene was so extensive. CCSO said they have been unable to locate a next of kin for the man.

Cecil County Animal Services were contacted by CCSO for the pets inside the house, according to CCSO.

According to the AP, there is no threat to the community and authorities have not released the victims’ identities. No motive has been shared and CCSO has no record of deputies responding to calls at the house before.

No further information has been released. The investigation is ongoing.
