According to The Associated Press, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a report of a dispute Monday at the 39-year-old’s Thousand Oaks home. Nobody was hurt in the incident, which was reported by one of Spears’ staff members, deputies said.

The Sheriff’s Office said it is forwarding details to prosecutors, according to the AP. No further information was immediately available.

In an email to the news agency, Matthew Rosengart, Spears’ lawyer, described the news as “overblown, sensational tabloid fodder.”

It’s “nothing more than a manufactured ‘he said, she said’ regarding a cellphone, with no striking and obviously no injury whatsoever,” Rosengart added.

The incident occurred just days after Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, said he plans to step down as his daughter’s conservator.
