DEWEYVILLE, Texas – A man was arrested after a Texas homeowner found him naked in his house allegedly trying to steal his cat.

According to a news release from the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday around 5:30 a.m., a homeowner contacted dispatch that he woke up to an unidentified naked man inside his house in Deweyville, Texas. The suspect was described as a white man possibly in his early 20s. The homeowner said the suspect allegedly tried to steal his cat.

The homeowner also told dispatch that he shot at the suspect to get him to leave but grazed his right arm, the news release said, according to KBMT. The suspect then left the house.

NCSO said the suspect ran toward an old high school in Deweyville.

According to KBMT, a deputy saw him running toward County Road 4156. They chased him and took him into custody.

According to NCSO, the suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment and has since been released. He was transported to the Newton County jail.

The name of the suspect has not been released. NCSO said they will not release any additional information until he is arraigned and all of the charges have been filed. No information about how the suspect got into the house has been released. The investigation is ongoing.
